Declare Your Love - Christmas Shows

It's that time of year. The time when you look forward to (or dread) all the Christmas shows that are on during the month of December. So I thought I would declare my love for:

A Christmas Story

This is hands down my favorite Christmas movie. The family is so disfunctional that I can totally relate... And even though the plot is so crazy, it could happen to anyone. I can't wait for the 24-hour marathon to come on, on Christmas Eve/Christmas Day. It's the highlight of my Christmas season.

What about you? What is your favorite Christmas show or movie?

As an aside, the giveaway for the $30 Barnes and Noble gift card ends at midnight (EST) tomorrow night. If you haven't already entered, go ahead, what do you have to lose?

DYL - Sick person edition

These past few weeks have been full of sickness. The week before last Elijah had strep throat and he apparently passed some of it on to me. Last week I thought I had caught it, but before it turned horrible in my throat it traveled to my sinuses and became an awful head cold instead. Fun times and 3 days off of work and I was on the mend, kind of. Today is the first day I can actually breathe normally again, so in honor of yuckiness this is a Declare Your Love for things when you are sick.

I would like to declare my love for the...

Vicks Waterless Vaporizer

This thing is the best thing ever for little kids... and adults too. It's completely safe for infants and pregnant women, which is the best part. There is this little square pad you stick inside that is "soaked" in vapor fluid and the fan blows it out into the room (it lasts about 8 hours per pad), so your sinuses are cleared without having to put the Vicks directly onto your body. I also like that it has different settings, so you can set how much vapor is released. We have used ours for over a year and it's still going strong... We just have to remember to buy the refill packs of the pads and we are ready for any sickness that hits... but hopefully that won't be for a long time.

So what do you love when you are sick?

DYL

It's that time again, where you declare your love. For those of you that need a refresher, here it is. We know that you love your family, friends, pets and co-workers (sometimes). This is a different kind of love. This is a love for things like, book series, movies, food items, cars, video games, etc.

Today I have decided to declare my love for

Take and Toss Sippy Cups

Everyone that has a toddler should own some of these cups. I love everything about them. They are relatively inexpensive, they only have 2 parts (as opposed to other sippys that have 3 and 4 parts), they are leak proof (unless a little boy decides to chew on the spout for a while) and can't be opened by little hands.

They sell a wide variety of colors, they also have some that have characters on them. Elijah has some Sesame Street and Mickey Mouse Club House ones, but they also have other characters as well. We have all sorts of these cups. We have the regular sized ones, the ones with straws(which I don't love as much), the character ones and the huge 10 oz ones. The best part about them is that all of their lids fit each other. If you know my life, this is a big plus in my book. So, in the morning when I'm searching for a sippy, all I have to do is grab one of the bottoms and a random lid, fill and that's it. It's awesome. :-)

Oh and I forgot to add they are dishwasher safe, so you decide whether you want to wash them or toss them afterward. Anyway...

Now it's your turn. What are you going to declare your love for?

Cards and DYL Again

This week has been non-stop stuff. It all started last Thursday when Joe called me up and was like, "You wanna go to Ocean City Monday to Wednesday?" (cause I took Tuesday and Wednesday off from work to stay home with Elijah) We went back and forth about it. Joe called someone we knew and asked if she thought it would be crowded. She said no and then offered for us to stay in their condo for free. That was a deal breaker, we were going. So that meant we had to scramble Friday, Saturday and Sunday to buy stuff and pack.

To add to all of this Saturday morning we were playing around with a ball in the house... Which happened to knock over a vase of flowers that had water in it also, um, right on my cell phone. Which promptly died. So I went to AT&T to get a new phone and change to pay as you go. More drama ensued.

During all that I managed to find time to make two cards. One for my dad for his birthday that I didn't know we were celebrating til that day:

I'm getting smarter about this whole credit thing. I have started taking pictures of the supplies I used for reference for when I post the pictures: (Don't ask why it's sideways... I can't figure out why it's doing that when I upload it and I can't figure out how to turn it)

DCWV card base
DCWV card stock cut into triangle and into strips
Mini Glue Dots
Dementionals to make the triangle pop off the page
Greetings Clear Stamps - Happy Birthday
ColorBox Ink
Cutter Bee Scissors

I also made a Thank You card for the couple that let us use the condo, because I wanted to just be able to write inside and mail it when we got back.

I really wanted to use a chipboard frame on this, but I couldn't find any the size I wanted, anywhere. So I just made due without.

There's a bunch of stuff for this one
DCWV card base and card stock
ColorBox ink
Mini Glue Dots
Greetings Clear Stamps - Thank You
Sassafras Lass Borders Clear Stamps
G - Clear Stamps - Little flower and leaf
Fine Lines Narrow Shear Ribbon
Fiskars Adhesive
StazOn Black Ink
Cutter Bee Scissors
Cutter Bee Retractable Knife
Blender Pen
Black Pen

I'll write more about Ocean City in my next entry, so I'll leave you with DYL.

I love my Blender Pen

I had to order it from Amazon because nowhere around here had it and it took like 3 weeks to arrive, but it was well worth the wait. It's so easy to just pick it up, put ink on a clear block and color. And it's easy to clean... All you do is keep coloring on a piece of scratch paper until it's colors clear and that's it. I love it.

Let me know what you love this week.

Cards and DYL

I have been planning on updating this thing for like a week but I never had the time, but now I'll just share a few things and leave the other things for another post (which hopefully won't be 2 weeks from now).

Lately I've been getting into card making. It's actually quite relaxing. I'm building up my stash so I can just go in there and pick out things instead of having to run to the store for the specific item I need... or think I need ;-). So anyway, here are the first few cards that I've made.

I gave this one to my mother-in-law for Mother's Day. She loves little fat birds, so when I saw this stamp that was a little fat bird, I just had to get it. I have no idea about a lot of products I used, except the button is Bo Bunny (aka Shabby Princess in the digital world) and the green polkadot paper is DCWV - Nana's Kids. I have a feeling I'm gonna have to get used to this whole credit thing... If you want to know any other things, I can look and let you know asap.

This was the card I gave my mom for Mother's Day. I got nothin' for the credits.

This is a card I'm going to give our friend Gulzat at her baby shower. I took the picture next to a pair of scissors so you could tell how little it is. It's BABY sized. :-) So yeah, um... I think the stiching around the outside of the yellow is a fiskars stamp. The letters for "baby" are alphabet wooden stamps (I have no idea what brand they are, but they were on clearance at JoAnn's for like $2 (down from $12.99), so I had to get them and now I'm glad I did). The paper is DCWV.

Charlotte's birthday card will be my next project. :-D

Now for Declare Your Love. I would do card making, but that's a little over the top for this entry. So...

I love Carter's clothing

Carter's clothes are so cute and I have an abundance of babies to buy them for. One of them is having a birthday party tomorrow, so tonight I'm going shopping. I'll have to see what ultra cute outfit I can get for her... And of course I'll have to get a few... I mean several outfits for my favorite little boy. I'll probably pick up something for Penelope and Samuel while I'm at it too. Fun times.

DYL #4

I almost couldn't decide what to declare my love for this week. I had so many thing... nice weather, the weekend, egg salad, freedom of speech. I decided none of those would do today, so I picked

Card Making/Scrapbook Supplies

I'm on a card making kick this month. I have researched and watched videos and bought stuff... and plan to buy more stuff this weekend. O:-) I love it.

What do you love this week?

Declare Your Love #3

Today I'm going to declare my love for a game on facebook it's called:

Robin Hood

I am addicted to this game. It's a strategy game with a twist... You have to get your friends to join to build your band of merry "men". The more people in your band the more stuff you can do in the game. So that is my DYL for this week. It's your turn to declare your love.

Declare Your Love #2

I knew I was going to forget to do this yesterday. I do have an excuse though, Elijah had his check-up at the doctors at 1pm, so by the time we got home and settled it was time for dinner then off to do errands etc etc.

BTW, the doctor visit went really well. He's 27lbs 1oz (which is just under 90th percentile) and 32 inches tall (which is 75th percentile). Except for the shot part, he was a little angel. :-) She said he looks like he's doing really well, so yay.
But anyway, it's time for declare your love. If you want to know the rules go here. Since I took time off two days this past week I'm going to declare my love for:

Paid Time Off (PTO)

I love PTO. Just knowing that I can sleep in, do what I want, spend time with Elijah, go shopping... basically act like it's a weekend and get paid for it is an awesome feeling.

Now it's your turn. I loved the ones from last week, so I can't wait to see what everyone decides to declare this week! :-)

Declare Your Love

I think I'm gonna do this new thing every Friday, it's called "Declare Your Love". I'm stealing this from one of the radio stations I listen to (Mix 106.5). The object of it is to declare how much you love a certain thing. The only stipulation is that you can't declare your love for another person (son, wife, mother, friend etc.) because that is a given. The things you declare your love for should be things like specific food items, certain cars, pieces of scrapbooking equipment etc.

I think I will start out with a food item:

I love Tomato and Mozzarella Salad

I'm on this kick where I could so eat this every night. It's so yummy and on muggy Summer evenings it's very refreshing. I will admit it's not very filling, but if you have a small sammich or some kind of meat with it, it's dinner. :-)

Now it's your turn.

Ok and now a short little story. We went to the park on Sunday afternoon and we decided we were going to take Elijah's Winnie the Pooh riding toy, he got for his birthday, to push him around in. Apparently this toy is like a toddler version of a Jaguar...

Because toddlers from all over the playground came over to stare at it and push the buttons. It was crazy. While Elijah was on the swing and we had parked the toy next to the swing set, this little boy was drawn to it and played with it for a good 5 minutes. The whole time Elijah was just wondering "Why are you touching my toy?" He was good, though, and shared it like a big boy. I feel like I should start a scrapbook about the park because it seems like every time we go there we have a story to share.

I'm out.
